Morning Clouds

Dull and grey, cold and still
I trudge off to start my day
Outside my home
the weather mirrors my mood

As I crunch towards my car
the gravel seems subdued
Less intense, as if it, too
has responded to the weather

I look towards the east
seeking the slight warmth
and golden glow
of the early sun

I feel it before I see it
A reflection in the morning dew
I raise my gaze
to discover the source

The clouds have been cleaved apart
and light pours through the wound
surrounding me in the dawn’s light
I feel the warmth, experience the energy

As my mood lifts, and I feel the joy,
For just the moment
I am basking in the sun’s vitality
Witnessing the beauty of this morning

Just as abruptly
the break repairs
The warmth and light ebb
The beauty is with me forever
